The 583 series was introduced in 1968 as a 50/60Hz daytime/nighttime AC/DC express train that was used nationwide.
The KuHaNe 581 has an equipment room with MG and CP installed between the driver's cab and the passenger door, and has distinctive features such as side louvers.
